PORTO PINO
Porto Pino is located about 20 minutes by car from Kite House Sardinia, in the municipality of Sant’Anna Arresi. The long white sandy beach, impressive sand dunes and the presence of pink flamingos make Porto Pino one of the most beautiful beaches in South Sardinia.
As a kitesurf spot, Porto Pino is known for its crystal-clear water and wide shoreline, but it is not suitable for beginners. Wind conditions are often gusty and the water is generally choppy or wave-affected, making the spot more appropriate for experienced riders.
Kitesurfing in Porto Pino is especially appreciated for wave riding from autumn to spring, when conditions can be powerful and challenging. During the summer season (from mid-June to mid-September), kitesurfing is not allowed due to the high number of swimmers and the absence of an official launching corridor.
Outside the bathing season, kiting is possible in specific areas of the beach, either in the first section or near the dunes at the end of the bay, depending on conditions.
Main winds
- The West wind (Ponente) and South-West wind (Libeccio) blow quite well throughout the year and are the most suitable for wave riding.
- The North-West wind (Mistral), which predominates in Sardinia, blows from the mainland into the bay. It is side-off and often very gusty.
- The South-East wind (Scirocco) also blows from the mainland into the bay. It is side-off and usually gusty.
- The North wind (Tramontana) can blow very strong, cold and gusty in the bay during the entire winter season, sometimes exceeding 50 knots.
