Is Melonis Kite Spot is a true gem for kitesurfers looking for ultra-flat water, steady wind and uncrowded sessions in Sardinia.
It is the home spot of Kite House Sardinia, located inside the Sant’Antioco lagoon, just 500 meters from the accommodations.
This section of the lagoon is a non-bathing area, with no swimmers, making it a quiet and dedicated environment for kitesurfing practice.
Access leads to a wide, open riding area, ideal for those who want to kite away from crowds, in a relaxed and safe setting.
Characterized by a vast shallow bottom and smooth, laminar wind, Is Melonis often offers conditions that are even more stable and cleaner than Punta Trettu, especially with South winds.
The space available inside the lagoon is huge, allowing many riders to share the spot comfortably.
Is Melonis is particularly appreciated for free riding, freestyle training and progression sessions, and it is often chosen when Punta Trettu is busy or when riders are looking for more space.
⚠️ Important: there is no rescue service or supervision at Is Melonis.
For this reason, the spot is recommended to independent riders who are comfortable managing their sessions autonomously.
Riders who are not yet fully independent are advised to train at the nearby kitesurf schools located further south, where assistance and supervision are available.
The wind blows throughout the year, increasing in intensity thanks to the thermal effect (from May to October) and the Venturi effect created by the local geography.
In particular, North-West and South winds often blow 5 to 10 knots stronger than forecast.
Is Melonis also works as a natural connection point within the lagoon:
with Maestrale (NW) it is a perfect arrival point from Punta Trettu, while with South and South-East winds it becomes an excellent starting point toward Punta Trettu.
Depending on conditions, Kite House Sardinia also organizes guided downwind sessions, supported by boats and radio helmets, for riders looking to explore the lagoon in a structured and safe way.

We spent the whole of January with our two cats in one of the bungalows with a terrace and had a wonderfully peaceful time. The property is very large and beautifully maintained, it was totally quiet and I could have relaxed there all day. There are also extremely good kite spots nearby, great for beginners…

The Kite House Sardinia is a nice, quiet and welcoming place in an oase of olive trees and flowers, only a few minutes by car to the kite spots Punta Trettu, Porto Botte and Is Solinas. We had a fantastic time there, met very nice people and intend to go again, sooner or later.
