THE ITALIAN BIG AIR CHAMPIONSHIP LANDS IN PUNTA TRETTU
From May 8 to 30, 2025, Punta Trettu becomes the stage for the spectacular Big Air discipline, with an official stop of the Italian Kitesurfing Championship, organized by Kite Village Sardegna under the patronage of the Italian Sailing Federation.
A unique opportunity to see the best riders of the national (and international) scene in action, engaged in breathtaking jumps, high-powered kiteloops, and aerial maneuvers that will leave you speechless.
What is Big Air?
In Big Air, every athlete pushes their limits to the max: higher, bigger, more spectacular jumps. The goal? Combine height, control, and style to win over the judges… and the wind. It’s the most adrenaline-filled discipline in modern kitesurfing.
Where and how it takes place
The competition will take place in the renowned lagoon of Punta Trettu, one of the best spots in Europe thanks to its steady wind, flat water, and safety. There are two race areas planned, chosen based on wind direction (Mistral or Scirocco).
The heats will be called using a traffic light system:
🔴 Red light = Stand-by
🟡 Yellow light = Pre-alert 72/96h before
🟢 Green light = Event confirmed 48h before
The final schedule will be updated online, on the official FIV website and the event’s digital notice board.
Who can participate
The following categories are admitted:
• Men’s and Women’s Open
• Under 15, 17, 19, 21
• Master and Grand Master (if formed)
The competition bracket will be formed based on the national ranking, and wild cards or possible qualifying rounds (trials) may be foreseen.
Registrations and requirements
Registrations must be made online via the FIV portal: federvela.coninet.it
FIV membership, a valid medical certificate for competitive sports, and liability insurance are required. Foreign athletes must meet the requirements of their national federation and provide valid liability insurance.
